I believe that my design education and background combined with my self-taught coding abilities provide me with a well rounded front-end skillset. Taking static designs and translating them into functioning websites is what I enjoy most about this career. In 2019, I was the lead developer on several projects that won Addy awards for the north-central Florida area, including Vet+Pet, Play Hard Florida, and Ginnie Springs which won Best of Show.
After graduating with a Graphic Design Bachelor’s degree, I decided to learn HTML and CSS to broaden my skill set. These skills propelled me into a Web Development career, starting with some basic WordPress freelance work that ultimately expanded into positions at design and development studios where I continually expanded my skillset to include tools and languages like PHP, JavaScript, Sass, Gulp, and many others.
WordPress has become a go-to tool for building almost any kind of site. As I learned more about the CMS, I realized the amount of power that lies under the hood. As I better understood how to build custom themes for WordPress, I realized it can do just about anything a site might need to do.
