Foster Florida

Foster Florida is an organization based in North Central Florida that provides resources and assistance to foster families in the area. Foster families can search through local chapters around the state, and find resources and supportive companies in their area.

FosterFlorida.org is built on WordPress and uses the PHOS framework, as well as Advanced Custom Fields, Gravity Forms, Google Maps API, custom post types and taxonomies to provide users with a well organized experience.

Challenges

Organization was the biggest challenge in building this site. Each “chapter” has a location, as well as resources associated with each chapter. There were two different map functions. One is a search for the chapters as a whole, then within that each chapter page has a separate map that shows the location of resources in that area. All the chapters and resources needed to be organized appropriately with taxonomies and then sorted and displayed correctly on their respective pages.
